FRANKFURT, HESSEN - September 10, 2011 - The American Women's Club of the Taunus welcomed over 100 of its new and returning members at a fun-filled evening.

The event, held at the Goethehaus in downtown Frankfurt, was a great success, where members and their spouses had the opportunity to enjoy some delectable Spanish wines and tapas, catered by Music & Tapas, and mingle with some old and new friends.

This year's Welcome Wine & Cheese came with a twist, as the AWCT and those present celebrated the closure of the Club's 40th Anniversary year, comprised of a number of festive events throughout the year, such as the 40th Kick-Off in January, where the AWCT was honored with the presence of the US Counsel General and other members of the US Consulate, the Oberursel Mayor, the Vice President of the British Club of the Taunus, and other dignitaries of the of the local Hessen community; the Spring Charity Event in March benefiting the START Stiftung charity; and the Independence Day party.

Renee Fozouni, 2011-2012 AWCT President, dedicated some words to the Club, its members and the out-going Board, "What started with a small group of women 40 years ago has grown to a large social group of over 450 members from over 35 nationalities. The success of the AWCT is due to the many women who have volunteered their time over the past four decades. The room this evening is filled with many current and past volunteers and we want to give a special thanks to them, but especially to last year's Board members for their efforts in making sure our 40th Anniversary was not only remembered but celebrated."

Four lucky winners took home special door prizes, sponsored by the AWCT, which included AWCT branded items, Spanish wines and music, and chocolate truffles.

The Annual Welcome Wine & Chesse is one of the many events taking place each year designed to get our members involved and connected, as well as facilitate their efforts to integrate into the German community.
