KRONBERG, HESSEN – November 18, 2010 – On Sunday, 15 November, the American Women’s Club of the Taunus (AWCT), held their annual Fall Market at the Kronberg Stadthalle.

The annual event, which is open to the public, featured 55 craft vendors from all over Germany selling their products.  The sellers offered a wide variety of products including jewelry, art and French linens.

The highlight of the Fall Market was the American food products on sale.  More than 30 members contributed delicious, American homemade bakery goods that were sold to the Market visitors. Another popular attraction was the Annual Chili Cook-Off.  A panel of three judges, Birgit Leiser, Präsidentin, Damengruppe: Steuben-Schurz-Gesellschaft, Mitko Hübner, Alt-Oberurseler Brauhaus, and Lawrence Mire: Chief, Consular Services, US Consulate General Frankfurt, tasted seven varieties of American made chili, from hot and spicy chili to white chicken chili. The judges picked the winning chili made by member and Oberursel resident, Kristin Busch.

AWCT President and former Fall Market Chairperson, Elaine Kuether said, “It was wonderful to see such a great turnout of members and to see so many of our German community eating, shopping and experiencing a unique part of our AWCT.  We are thrilled to have returned the Fall Market to the Kronberg Stadthalle and hope to continue supporting the many German businesses who participated in today’s market.”

The Fall Market is the third largest money generating activity for the AWCT and provides much needed revenue to help run the Club, which is located in Oberursel. Applications to participate in next year’s Fall Market will be available on the AWCT website in early summer.
